I use Alltel in the southwest Virginia area. I used to use Nextel, but when the merge happened, their plans got a little pricey for me. I get great reception at my house with Alltel, 6 bars. Nextel only got 2 bars. Last month, my Alltel phone apparently got zapped, and everything got erased off of it, even the ESN (serial number)! I'm going to do an "exchange by mail" as they call it. They told me it's an issue with the phone, that they have never heard of that happening before. Oh well!
Thats a bum ride you received , they should send you a top of the line phone - tell'em Sebastian sent you !!! . Another reason to keep my T-Mobile and Nextel accounts!!!! NYC , not going anywhere for a while , so I'll have a Snickers and a !!!

I have to agree with you on the reception thing with alltel. There are features about the nextel that I will always miss, but the features were not worth a nickel much less what they charged if you can't get a connection to use them.
Curious as to what type of phone you had the problem with......
My phone was the LG AX245, and from what I can find, it came out about this time last year. I like the phone, since it has a camera and all. They just say it was a freak thing to happen, that no other caller before had the problem. Like you said, though, I link some of Nextel's features such as DC, so I have a Boost phone.
