Cool, it's for my dad's phone. He's been wanting me to install ringtones on his phone, and my plan was to downlaod the ones he wanted to my phone, then bluetooth them to his phone. But everytime I download songs to my phone, it downloads them as protected media and then I cant bluetooth them.
Anywhoo...thanks.

My dads got at&t/cingular. To tell you the truth, I don't know anything about these phones or service. I dont know which programs to use to load ringtones or anything. I was trying to save the ringtones to the memory card then copy or move to phone and try to save as a ringtone but no luck with that. The phone doesnt like to cooperate that way.
I heard of something called motorola tools and am assuming thats what to use to load, but havent had the chance to check it out yet.

The phone tools that you mention are excellent for these phones. One thing, and I don't know a whole lot about this topic, is that att has a reputation for locking these phones. I have alltel and mine wasn't locked. I learned that after buying. So it was just dumb luck for me.
The ring tones that you put on the card......where they mp3 format? I do know that the phone will take mp3 and midi. The wall papers are going to have to be jpg instead of gif.
The guys here introduced me to a program called Infanview for converting the graphics. It does much more than that, but it has been a very quick way to get them converted. It does an excellent job with the quality too.
As far as converting wavs to mp3's or mp3's to wav for that matter, they led me to a program called dBpower AMP. I use it all the time too. Neither of these are hard to use, and they get the work done quickly. I don't know if they are available on this forum or not. I and others won't mind converting for you if that will help.
I am hesitant to send you drivers if you have the jal loader working. It may well mess up the works for you. I have read that there have been issues with the phone tools and jal loaders running on the same system. I un-installed my jal loader when I loaded the power tools just to be safe. I do not know what the issues were, but suspect it had something to do with the drivers.
I have a lot of links concerning these phones that I am going to go dig out and post for you next. Good reading.
Try loading mp3's and jpg"s to your dad's phone via the card first. My husband had to replace his phone and MPT won't work with his anymore and this is how I get everything on to his. His phone was a little odd too. Finding the card to view the ringers and papers took some digging once I had the card back in the phone. I don't mind going back over his and putting step by step how to get to the card if that will help too.
The wall paper needs to be 176 x 220. If you want me to convert you a few to try, stick them in this thread and I will be happy to do it.

Yeah, I used mp3's at first, and when I saved them to the memory card, then moved or copied to the phone, then tried to play them, it kept telling me "corrupted media" and wouldn't play. The funny thing is if I hit menu, it would give me the option to assign as ringtone, but it didnt matter cause it kept saying it was corrupted.
Then when I tried it as a wav file, it would let me play it but would not let me assign it. (weird) I even tried a bunch of different sizes and still no luck. I wonder if this has anything to do with what you said about locking the phones.
I get get wallpapers on with no problem. I havent had any issues with that at all.
I am gonna try and find some of the programs you speak of as soon as I get a chance. I can only search the internet at work and friends house right now. I had to shut the internet off at my house cause I just graduated college and am doing an internship with a company and it isnt paid, so I am taking a hit in the finance dept if you know what I mean. Hopefully i'll have it back soon when i'm rolling in the money.:cool1:
Thanks for all the helpful info you have given. U da best!

I have attached 2 ringers to this post. If you can give them a try on your father's phone. It may be that the ones you tried before were not the right format or had a tag problem. These I know are formated right and have a clean tag and are working on my husbands phone. Hopefully it is something this easy to work around. We won't know with out trying though. Good Luck. Links for F.Y.I. and this phone being posted next.

Let's get started on the links. It has taken me a while to dig back thru these to find the ones that were of the most value to me.
http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V3C-1.htm
I learned more from this site than I did any other. Spend some time here. He also had info on loaders for these phones besides motorola phone tools (MPT). I have those loaders too, but am not as thrilled with them. It is a personal choice. See what you think. This is also where I found the drivers that I needed.
Here is another site with some good info and d/l's
http://www.hacktherazr.com/index.html (home)
http://www.hacktherazr.com/guides.html (driver info and tools)
http://www.mobile9.com/invboard/index.php?showforum=46
I think this was the 3rd site I learned a lot from. I have got to go digging thru the rest of my links to make sure it is. One way or the other, there is a lot of good info here.
Go read........and read.........and read. There is enough here to occupy you for days.
