during the upgrade, it wont even get passed the first part of reading the phone. i did everything you said in your post

boost phone?
you have to upgrade the phone with R1C.02.01 software.
If it errors in the beginning, odds are you already have a newer phone software version. i don't recommend trying to downgrade a phones software.
