ok scratch that, I went from Xandros to Kubuntu. I figured I oughta get the best of the best and its even more customizable than Xandros here is a screenshot of kubuntu

I like *nix. I was trying to put ubuntu on my Gateway wit XP Pro SP2 but I need a bigger HD so I jus went with 2000NT Pro SP4.

if you want to learn linux, I would recommend PCLinuxOS. based off mandriva but so freakin easy to use. in fact, I might install it tonight on one of my hard drives....

Yup. A lot of software is *nixable, so jus goto the site and see if you can download the *nix version. (Not sure if the desktop versions windows capabable.)

Alot of hardware is supported, but if you want to get the 3d effects, you have to get the proprietary drivers(supplied by the manufacturer) for your video card, most of the time you can get this using the repositories.


Linux is completely different than windows, instead of hunting down the software you want, just open your repository manager and search, alot of times you can find software that is made for linux but comparable to windows apps.
