Changing Start Up Pics
Ok to do this is very simple.
1. You have to have webjal, data cable and a computer DUH! LOL
2. You find the pic that u want and then u rename it with this: carrier_img.gif thats for the start up, text_img.gif this is for the text image on the start up, java_img.gif this is for the Java Powered image at the start up, browser_img.gif this one is for the browser when u open the internet, and then this one is for the powerdown pwrdown.gif. Ok now you open webjal and login and connect to phone ya kno the routine. then you go to load wallpaper pick your image with the new name and then load it up to the phone and your done

And thats it your done! If You Have Any Question Post It Here Or Holla At me on AIM!

Problem
Here is my problem, I did what you said above I loaded it in wallpaper. The image stays in my wallpapers and does not change my startup and power down. Any suggestions?

Like a CHARM....My next project is to figure out if I can have a solid color LED on the front Caller ID screen on my I830. Do you know if it can be done by program or a hard install?

just to add to this thread .. here is the steps to start up images broken down a little more.. im not trying to step on anyones toes ..

TIP & FACT: Animated gifs can be used as regular wallpapers BUT WILL NOT BE ANIMATED... only for the startup and powerdown images will they be animated...

They MUST be named as indicated below and can ONLY be used as indicated below

- browser_img.gif
Replaces the image when you start internet ( will only show the first time you start after powering the phone)

- carrier_img.gif
Replaces the Nextel image during power up

- java_img.gif
Replaces java image during power-up

- pwrdown_img.gif
Replaces Nextel Done| during power-down

- text_img.gif
Replaces the T9 text image during power-up

YOU MUST INCLUDE ALL_UNDER_SCORES _

You can use animated gifs as wallpaper, but
THEY WILL NOT BE ANIMATED
The i730 will only display a total of 16 wallpapers in the menu. This includes the 4 that came with your phone. So if you already have 16 wallpapers loaded on your phone these images will not show up in your menu to select as your wallpaper. If you have less than 16 you will see those names in your menu to select as your wallpaper.

Example:
- You have a animated gif that you like and want to put on your phone.

- Its named cool2.gif

- Decide what you would like that animated gif to do:
(Be your power-up, power-down image, java image, etc.)

- For examples sake we will use it as our power-up image.

- So we will "Right-Click" the image, choose "Rename", and rename it carrier_img.gif

- Fire up webJAl, myjal or whateverjal, load it and check the results.

For anyone that is interested here is a free website to resize animated gifs.

Good Luck ..
