If you goto the Motorola site they provide all the drivers you will need to operate your phone properly as a modem. Most phone require a serial cable except for the i930, iM240, iM1100. I assume those can use the usb.
I havnt exactly found out for sure but, I am sure like everyone else said you will probaly need a data package. Maybe theres away around the data package to hack the internet somehow like the WAP hack but Im not sure..... I wouldnt be the person to talk to about that kind of stuff. But heck you can download the software for free so someone might as well download the drivers and see what you can do. I personally dont have a serial cable yet otherwise Id have more to ad to this thread ......

Actually Just about every iden phone that I know of including these (I have used all of these to go online) i60c i90 i95 i710 i730 i530 i860 i415 i850) can all be used as a modem with the usb cable. You just set up a normal dial up networking connection use s=2 as the dial in number, go to networking properties tab and under the first settings box select properties and uncheck enable lcp extentions. you leave user name and password blank. You need to have the 10$ a month online plan or it will either not work or you will be charged out the a** for data usage. It is slow but does work ok this is my primary means of internet connection at the moment and what I am using while typing this message.
